Sussman Shank congratulates our Partner, Susan Ford, for being elected the 2017 Turnaround Management Association (TMA) Northwest Chapter President.  Susan has been involved with TMA for 15 years and has served on the board for several years.

As the only North American Chapter with a cross-border membership, the Northwest Chapter of TMA is unique among other U.S. and Canadian chapters. It covers the largest single TMA region, stretching from Oregon and Washington to British Columbia and Alberta. By having this unique geographic composition, it permits their Chapter members to draw upon a wide variety of expertise and practical experience in addressing Northwest corporate revitalization, renewal and insolvency issues, and the differences between the U.S. and Canadian legal, accounting, and banking systems.

TMA is dedicated to turnaround management, corporate restructuring, and distressed investing. Established in 1988, TMA has more than 8,300 members in 56 chapters worldwide, including 32 in North America. Members include turnaround practitioners, bankruptcy attorneys, lenders, bankers/workout officers, investors, and other related professionals.

Susan has over 30 years of experience resolving complex business problems for clients, both in and out of the courtroom.  Her practice is focused on advising businesses and individuals on strategic entity governance and restructuring issues, to meet specific company growth needs, or to confront serious challenges caused by distress situations.  Susan specializes in Chapter 11 reorganizations, liquidations, and receiverships.

In addition to her involvement with TMA, Susan is a regular speaker and moderator at continuing legal education programs, and volunteers her legal services to the Oregon Legal Aid Bankruptcy Clinic.  Susan is recognized in the Best Lawyers® in America in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law Litigation – Bankruptcy. She was also selected for inclusion in Oregon Super Lawyers including the Top 50 List and the Top 25 Women List.

Susan earned her B.A. from Lewis and Clark College and her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.
