Overview
Curtis brings over 28 years of experience to the firm in the areas of Construction Law, Civil Litigation, Real Property Law, and Insurance Law. 

In his Construction Law practice, Curtis represents subcontractors and suppliers, and owners and general contractors, in both Oregon and Washington.  He has substantial experience in both private and public construction law, and in matters relating to both commercial and residential construction projects.  His work includes review and drafting of construction contracts and other construction documents; pursuing or defending claims for payment, including lien claims and bond claims; and pursuing or defending construction defect claims. 

His clients have included Fortune 500 companies and other large multinational companies, statewide and local companies and businesses in Oregon and Washington, and many individuals.  In addition to having represented these clients for over 28 years on a wide range of everyday matters affecting their businesses or directly affecting them personally, he has represented them at trial on a wide range of legal disputes including construction lien foreclosure trials, construction defect trials, multi-week trials involving the transfer of real property, jury trials in negligence cases, trials involving covenants not to compete and unfair competition claims, trials involving breach of lease claims, trials related to business disputes, trials involving will disputes, trials involving claims against governmental entities, family law trials including child custody trials, trials involving disputes over ownership of personal property, bankruptcy court trials, tax court trials, and trials related to non-payment of debts.

In his Real Property Law practice in both states, Curtis represents clients involved in disputes over real property purchases, leases, easements, boundary lines, adverse possession, and real property partition claims.  He has also represented clients in relation to claims of nuisance or trespass. 

His Insurance Law practice includes many years of experience in defending clients who have been sued for negligence or other torts.  He also has substantial experience in insurance coverage matters.

Curtis has an AV® rating from Martindale Hubbell, their highest rating for ethics and professional excellence given by peers in the legal community.  He is also a regular contributor to legal education programs and to legal and trade publications. 

Most recently, Curtis was a partner for over 18 years with Duggan Schlotfeldt & Welch PLLC in Vancouver, Washington.  Prior to that time, he was a partner with Lindstedt, Buono & Welch P.C. in Portland, Oregon.
